Add Views

After you create a dashboard, you can add existing views or create new ones to display the data you need. Each dashboard layout has a grid system of 192 rows by 96 columns to help you design and precisely place views.

Add an existing view

  1. Select the dashboard where you want to add views.
  2. In the Toolbar panel, select Edit Dashboard. You must be in edit mode to add views.
  3. From the navigation panel, select Data Models and Views.
  4. Drag and drop the desired views from the appropriate data model onto the dashboard.
  5. In the Toolbar panel, select Save or Save As to save your changes.

You can add views from different data models.

Add a new view

You can create new views from existing data models. These views exist only within the dashboard where they were created.

  1. Select the dashboard where you want to add views.
  2. In the Toolbar panel, select Edit Dashboard. You must be in edit mode to add views.
  3. From the navigation panel, select Data Models and Views.
  4. Drag and drop a data model onto the dashboard.
  5. In the Select a View dialog, choose the desired view type.
  6. Enter a name and apply the relevant settings. Settings may vary by view type.
  7. Select Confirm.
  8. In the Toolbar panel, select Save or Save As to save your changes.

When you click on a data point in a view, an actions menu appears to let you perform contextual actions.

...Drill UpMoves back up one level in the hierarchy after drilling down. Shown only after Drill Down is used.
...Add to FilterAdds the selected value as a dashboard filter, allowing cross-view filtering. For example, Year = 2017.
...Exclude from FilterApplies a filter that removes the selected value using a not equal condition. For example, Year <> 2017.
...Link ToOpens the Navigation Links dialog to let you navigate from one view to another, passing filter values to the linked view. For details, see Link To.
...Link To With Parent ValuesOpens the Navigation Links dialog, showing all links related to the selected value—including those from higher grid levels. For details, see Link To.

Worksheet interaction toolbar

When a worksheet is displayed on your dashboard, an actions menu appears with specific actions for interacting with worksheet data.

View corner icons

When you click Edit Dashboard from the Toolbar panel on the right, a set of icons appears when you hover on a view. Changing a view's properties or chart type from here affects only the current dashboard. The original view in the data model is not changed.
