Online/Offline

The Online/Offline feature lets you use the Add-in even when you're not connected to your Central Point. This is useful when working remotely or when you want to reduce server traffic while reviewing a static version of your data.

While offline, you can view reports, but you can’t refresh data or interact with live features such as Prompt or Data Extraction until you reconnect.

The button label dynamically changes to reflect your current mode.

When to use offline mode​

  • Reducing server load: Review reports without triggering server calls or data refreshes.
  • Reviewing data offline: View static reports without needing to drill down or access real-time data.
  • Distributing static workbooks: Share a file with fixed data so others don’t need to connect to the server.
  • Working without internet access: Keep working locally even when offline.

Go offline​

  1. In Excel, go to the Add-ins tab.
  2. Select Online to switch to offline mode.
    • In offline mode, NecAccess formulas are disabled.
    • If you select Refresh Formulas, formulas will show #Offline until you return online.

Go back online​

  1. In Excel, go to the Add-ins tab.
  2. Select Offline to reconnect to real-time data. Once connected, all formulas in the workbook are refreshed automatically.
