Refresh Data

Keep your business information up to date by refreshing data on demand or by enabling automatic refresh options. This ensures you are always working with the latest figures and analytics throughout your dashboards, reports, views, and workbooks.

Refresh data manually

To reload data from the source:

  1. Open the Toolbar panel on the right.
  2. Select Refresh Data.
This updates your content with the most current values.

Refresh workbooks

Update your workbook data as needed using the flexible refresh tools, accessible from both the Toolbar panel on the right and the Analysis ribbon tab.

Refresh a specific wizard

Open the Toolbar panel and expand the Refresh section to select which workbook elements to update:

  • Formulas – Refresh all formula-based values throughout the workbook.
  • Data Extractions – Fetch the latest data for extraction.
  • Pivots – Update all pivot tables to reflect the most current data.
  • Duplicator – Reload duplicated sheets with up-to-date content.

For a broader update, select Entire Workbook to refresh all sheets, or Current Worksheet to update only the active sheet.

Refresh from a selection

To refresh specific data, click a cell within the workbook. The Refresh Selection icon will then be available to select from the Toolbar panel to the right.

Defer refresh

Defer data refresh to optimize performance when working with large datasets or making multiple changes. This feature temporarily disables automatic refresh, letting you make adjustments before updating the view.

To enable deferred refresh, select Defer Refresh Data from the Toolbar panel on the right. When this is active, a blue banner appears at the top of the content area and the view is grayed out, indicating that some functionalities are temporarily disabled.

While deferred refresh is enabled, you can add measures and dimensions or change properties without updating the data immediately. When you are ready, select Defer Refresh Data again to apply all your changes and refresh the data at once.

note

Select Force Update at any time to refresh all data immediately, regardless of defer settings.

Enable auto-refresh

Turn on automatic data updates to keep dashboards and reports refreshed at regular intervals. This feature ensures your data visualizations stay current without manual intervention.

  1. In the Toolbar panel on the right, select Properties.
  2. Choose the Advanced Option tab and enable Auto Refresh.
  3. Configure the desired refresh interval.
