Excel Add-in Troubleshooting

If you experience issues using the Excel Add-in after installation—such as non-responsive features or error messages—use the guidance below to quickly resolve common problems.

Configure a new Central Point

If you use a feature from the Add-ins tab for the first time, the SEI login page prompts you to configure a Central Point for Excel Add-in connectivity.

For setup instructions, see Add a Central Point.

Features do not respond when clicking buttons

If clicking a button in the Add-ins tab does nothing:

  1. Run Excel as an administrator.
  2. Ensure your Windows user account has the required permissions to access all Excel Add-in features.
  3. If the problem persists, review your Windows security settings or contact your IT administrator.

Compilation error in the Add-in

If you see a compilation error when using the Formula Wizard, Data Extraction, Pivot tables, or other Excel Add-in features, review the troubleshooting steps in Compilation error when using Excel Add-in after Office 365 update disables ActiveX.

In Excel 2016 or later, display settings can impact the Add-in. If Optimize for best appearance is selected, dialog windows may not display correctly. Change your Excel display setting to Optimize for compatibility to resolve this issue.
